Zotac Zbox Nano XS with RemoteThe refreshed Zbox Nano XS now sports an AMD E2-1800 Accelerated Processing Unit (APU).

Zotac’s Zbox Nano XS mini PCs are about as small as they come, measuring 4.17 inches x 4.17 inches x 1.46 inches, trumping even Intel’s Next Unit of Computing (NUC) system, which measures 4.59 inches x 4.41 inches x 1.55 inches. Another difference between the two is that Zotac offers an AMD version (Nano XS AD13), which it just refreshed to take advantage of the Brazos 2.0 platform.

“Zotac is pleased to deliver AMD’s latest Brazos 2.0 platform in our tiny Zbox Nano XS chassis. The latest update brings greater performance while reducing power consumption from the previous generation,” said Carsten Berger, marketing director, Zotac International.

The pint-sized PC features an AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon HD 7340 graphics. it has a single DDR3 SO-DIMM memory slot with support for up to 4GB of DDR3-1333 RAM, a 2.5-inch drive bay, 6-in-1 memory card reader, combo eSATA/USB 2.0 port on the front, two each of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports on the back, HDMI output, GbE LAN, and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Plus models come pre-installed with 2GB of DDR3 memory and a 64GB mSATA solid state drive (SSD), though you still need to provide your own operating sytem. Both the barebones kit and Plus edition come with an MCE-compatible remote and USB IR receiver.

No word yet on price or availability.
